Infrared Bridge Inspection Planner (IR-BIP)

The IR-BIP is a website planning tool that analyzes data from an existing network of weather stations across the country to determine if adequate environmental conditions exist for infrared imaging at a specific, user-defined location. Users input the location of the bridge for inspection and the website tool will provide a real-time analysis of the environmental conditions at that location, and determine if the environmental conditions are adequate to support thermal inspections. The IR-BIP provides both the real-time weather conditions, and the future predicted weather conditions at the selected location. This enables users to plan, for example, if suitable conditions are expected to exist the following day, as a tool for inspection planning. With a smart phone or tablet the system will use the embedded auto-location functions to automatically determine the location of the device.
